Bermondsey Street Festival 2012

The Bermondsey Street Festival has become something of an institution in our area and this year was the busiest yet! The idea behind the day is to invite local residents and those from far afield to celebrate the best of our creative community. The whole street is closed off from traffic, so the shops, bars and restaurants fling open their doors and enjoy live music, great food and even an adorable dog show…. (Well it is Bermondsey Street after all)!

We are so proud to be based on such an exciting, generous and creative street with so many wonderful neighbours doing brilliant and diverse things. From local artists, to designers and musicians there is always something going on in the area and for one day we all get together to make it happen at the same time… Our neighbours at London Glassblowing were doing live demonstrations of their incredible glasswork throughout the day, the FTM had a book signing with designer Kaffe Fassett, and Jose Pizarro was filming a TV show in his tapas bar!

The heart of the day for us is always the catwalk show – a chance to showcase the fashion hub that is in the area, from Zandra Rhodes and Andrew Logan to the beautiful menswear of local boutique Bermondsey 167. Of course we were proud to stand alongside such iconic and artisan labels and we relish the chance to showcase our womenswear, all made in London, to the community we  love so much.

The ethos behind our brand is to create beautiful, unique clothes made with skill, care and an emphasis on sustainability through production in the UK. We feel these ideals of quality, skill and creativity are shared by so many on Bermondsey Street and to get together to celebrate the variety and enthusiasm of the community feels very special. The fun went on well into the evening with an open air food market and outdoor cinema, a great time was had by all and we are already planning for the party next year….
