London Fashion Week September 2012

This LFW was really exciting post Olympics as there was a real buzz in the air around London. From the Jubilee, to Wimbledon and finally the Paralympics there has been so much positive focus on our hometown. Bringing the attention of the fashion world to our doorstep felt like a fitting tribute to a phenomenal few months in the capital.

On the eve of LFW we had a preview evening at the studio to showcase our new Studio Range which offers a unique take on ready to wear. Each collection is limited edition, meaning that you have a fresh look at the season as the trends occur, but made with timeless materials and classic cuts. The collection is entirely manufactured in London keeping the whole process local and British -  an ethos at the very heart of the Susie Stone brand.

We wanted to provide ‘off the peg’ pieces which retained that special and unique feeling of our bespoke garments. This range is essentially a capsule wardrobe of easy to wear, luxurious key pieces that you can mix and match for any occasion. Whether wearing our pure silk crepe shirt with a wool pencil skirt or throwing on our Liberty print satin tunic each garment is special and made with the highest quality materials.

There was also a first peek at the new additions to our core bespoke collection for the Autumn with an emphasis on sharp tailored pieces and elegant eveningwear. The materials to complement these styles range from pretty printed silks to textured wools with a bit of sparkle to bring glamour into a sophisticated wardrobe.

It wouldn’t be London Fashion Week without seeing a few shows and we particularly enjoyed the womenswear from Paul Smith and as ever loved the New Gen designers at the BFC tent. The fantastic thing about London is how we mix our style heritage with quirky new ideas and it is great seeing this on show during such a creative time for the industry.

As ever, our focus this season is on creating classic pieces made unique by the quality of materials, attention to detail and the cut of the garment. We hope that LFW has inspired a few women to treat themselves to a sartorial update as we move into Autumn…
