BBC London Radio with Kath Melandri

As part of our London Fashion Week events I went on the Ladies Lounge, hosted by Kath Melandri on BBC London radio. The show is a discussion of the week’s issues and new stories from the perspective of a group of creative women and I was joined by arts journalist Thuto Mali. I always love being part of the show as it is a great forum to debate issues ranging from politics to music and of course fashion!

We spoke about LFW and the many events that are going on to celebrate all eyes of the fashion world being on our city. It feels even more special after such a great summer with the Jubilee and of course Olympics. It is fantastic to see so many British designers – old and new –  showing in London this season and representing the best of creative talent in fashion right now. It is special for us as we get to connect directly with our clients over our new collection – we had a preview evening of our new Studio Range (details to come soon) where we get to talk through the collection first hand from where we source our materials to the inspiration behind our new design.

London Fashion Week is starting just days after the UK capital was voted the most stylish city in the world, beating the likes of New York, Paris and Milan, in the ninth annual ranking of 55 global cities by US-based analytics company Global Language Monitor. This comes after an incredible summer of events for the capital which allowed the world to see the multiculturalism of Britain and the creativity that makes us so unique. It has showcased the best of London and in terms of style represented even in the Stella McCartney Olympic kits – a legacy which has always been evident from Saville Row tailoring to the anarchy of Punk exemplified by Vivienne Westwood. The history of the city adds a cultural richness which is almost unparalleled across the world and something to be proud of and invested in.

We discussed this creative buzz that London has with so many events across the city at any one time. With this in mind I mentioned that LFW also leads into the Bermondsey St Festival on Saturday 22nd September which is a celebration of all things creative in the area, from a catwalk show to live music and some of the best food in London…

More than anything, being on the ‘Ladies Lounge’ is just such great fun and a chance to learn more about what is going on in the city we love (and have a laugh along the way….).

To listen to our conversation around these topics and a whole host of other issues you can catch the show on BBC iPlayer until 22nd September 2012:
